RANGE

 

            Although range is the bugaboo of the straight electric car it is one of the E-Lectra-gt plug in-hybrid electric’s strong suits.  Combining the power of the inexpensive and conventionally charged battery bank with the on board electrical generating capacity you can drive a phenomenal number of miles before having to stop for fuel.  Driving ranges of 600 miles are not uncommon versus 300-400 miles for a typical passenger car on far less fuel.  The on board generator operating at a set speed optimizes fuel efficiency while delivering the desired power to reenergize the battery bank.  When not required, the genset does not run and when needed, does so as economically and efficiently as possible.
